Searching Inward Serving Outward Through Christ

Academy Director

Sally Casto is Director of Music at Asbury United Methodist Church and has served as the church organist since 1975.  She has also served as Seminary Organist at Methodist Theological School in Ohio from 1983-2004.  While at MTSO with Dr. Roy Reed, Professor of Worship and Music, she founded the seminary’s Organist Training Program, a two year course to assist pianists and self-taught organists to learn the essential skills for effective organ playing and the necessary understanding of worship to be skilled worship leaders.  Since 1990 that program has graduated over 50 organists.

Knowing that the future of organ music depends on attracting young people to the organ, Mrs. Casto has shifted her teaching focus to helping young players begin to master the organ.

Letter to Prospective Students
Dear Students,
I am so glad that you are thinking about taking organ lessons.  You will be amazed at the music your hands and feet will learn to play.  The organ is a fascinating instrument which allows you to choose the sounds your mind wants to hear.  When you learn organ music, much of what you learn will also be playable on the piano – How cool is that?  Two instruments at the same time!!!  Please call or write to learn more about this wonderful learning opportunity.
